David Altmejd

In March I had the pleasure of stopping by one of my favorite galleries Andrea Rosen and witnessing the magic of David Altmejd’s latest show “Juices.” The show’s main piece titled “The Flux and the Puddle” featured an environment that Altmejd created with plexiglass, quartz, polystyrene, expandable foam, epoxy clay, epoxy gel, resin, synthetic hair, clothing, leather shoes and many other materials. The viewer is blocked off from touching and seeing every detail by the plexiglass which forms a cocoon for everything inside. So detailed and amazing it drew me in for more than an hour, a feat that not many pieces or artists are able to do.
