My first encounter with Olek was last year at Jonathan Levine Gallery’s opening of their exhibit for the 10 year anniversary of the Wooster Collective. Immediately, I was taken back by a skeleton covered in gold yarn featuring touches of pink. Since that day I have been following the New York artist who has made “knit bombing” popular by inspiring others to knit and create.
Olek is known as a street artist and since last year I had been searching for her work all over the city. On 4th of July I finally had my first street experience with Olek in Brooklyn, and it was to say the least magical, as a gate covered in knit spelled “Believe the Magic.” I believe the magic.
